Baby showers second time around
Just because you might already have one or two children doesn’t mean that you shouldn’t be treated to a baby shower.
Having a baby shower for a second pregnancy
For some basic ground rules, read *Planning a baby shower – there’s no reason you can’t enjoy yourself just the same as you did the first time around. However, there might be a few small changes:
• Gifts
The gift list this time might not need to include some of the essentials like a travel cot or steriliser – these should have survived from the first baby! However, you might prefer to have vouchers towards an updated pushchair if you first baby chariot is looking a bit worn out. Other good gifts include baby changing bags and gorgeous nursery bedding – these are always useful even when your baby is all grown up, and enjoying some of the latest designs will help spruce up your otherwise ‘secondhand’ collection of baby essentials.
• Games
If you had games at your first baby shower, they were probably rather more along the lines of hen night fun. Now that you have a toddler in tow – and quite possibly your friends have little ones too – turn this into an excuse to have a few gentle baby games instead. Don’t feel it has to be full-scale action on a par with your child’s last birthday party – this is your treat, after all – but get the host to organise a few nice little activities to create a family atmosphere.
• Childcare
Alternatively, as part of the day’s treat, ask dad to take your older children off to the park so you can have some serious girlfriend-time!
