We have visited Hedingham Castle several times with my sister who lives locally. It's a great place to have a picnic (although on special event days they have various stalls selling hot dogs etc). We saw jousting knights and walked round the gardens which are beautiful. The stairs to the top of the castle are not pushchair friendly, but we left ours outside and didn't worry at all that someone would walk off with it. Great shop for things like tabbards and swords, as well as a family-friendly cafe. It's also a dog friendly place.
