My nursing career began in 1994 at Great Ormond Street Hospital, London, where I trained as a paediatric nurse. I have since worked in partnership with children and families. My experience is varied and ranges from general paediatrics and school nursing in London through to working with children with chronic and complex special needs in Jersey. I worked as a Health Visitor in Cheltenham until the end of 2009.
I have had a special interest in complimentary medicine for many years. My travels through Latin America, China and South East Asia have served to broaden my perspective in healthcare and fuel my passion for an holistic approach to promoting health. I am trained in pregnancy massage and I am qualified to teach baby massage and movement. I am currently undertaking training in Emotional Therapy.
I strongly believe that when an integrated approach to healthcare is utilised, where evidence based information, practical skills, emotional support, appropriate intervention and complimentary medicine are provided in harmony, it enables the holistic health needs of a person or family to be considered and supported.
Fledgling Parents was set up with this philosophy in mind, the aim being to empower parents with pertinent knowledge and skills, and to inspire a self belief that enables parents to fully trust their instincts and find their own unique and confident style of parenting.
I provide the following;
Lactation Consultancy - specialist breastfeeding support through home visiting
Paediatric first aid workshops - monthly open workshops, or host your own at home
Postnatal courses - run regularly in Cheltenham including; baby massage, resuscitation, introducing solid food and dealing with
choking and emotional health and wellbeing
Emotional and practical support - during pregnancy and following birth through home visiting
Pregnancy massage - by appointment or at home on request
Baby massage - host your own group at home
I endeavour to support and empower parents by providing evidence based information and practical skills, together with appropriate emotional support, enabling new parents to adjust to parenthood and to establish a strong foundation for the future demands of family life. I work in and around Gloucestershire. I am flexible in my approach and clients are able to create their own unique package of care from the services I provide.
I am accountable to the Nursing and Midwifery Council, I am fully insured to practice through the Royal College of Nursing and I hold a current CRB certificate.
