As well as the maternity unit and special care baby unit at Torbay Hospital, South Devon Healthcare Trust provides a complete community midwifery service. The community and maternity unit services are fully integrated, so your midwifery team will look after you throughout your pregnancy, during birth and postnatally - whether at hospital or at home. You can choose where to have the birth, if you are low risk, at any point during you pregnancy and labour. The unit has one of the highest home birth rates in the country, with around 11% births occurring at home. Birthing facilities are also offered at two community hospitals - in Dawlish and Bovey Tracey
