Lovell House Infant School
Lovell House, the infant department of Nottingham High School, is the ideal place for young boys to take their first steps into school life. With a clear understanding of how young boys learn, we pack our days with opportunities to explore the world, experiment with new ideas and experience new challenges both inside and outside the classroom.
Lovell House occupies a newly refurbished building providing the boys with a stimulating learning environment, which comprises a computing suite, a library, an art and design technology room, a science room as well as light and airy classrooms. The School’s garden is a perfect outdoor area for the boys to play imaginatively and learn to care for their environment. When a boy enters Lovell House, he becomes part of the Nottingham High School family. He will start his journey into school life in a friendly, caring environment where he will be nurtured and supported through praise and kindness.
Our classes are kept deliberately small so that our teachers are able to devote time to the boys as individuals and to promote the warm, family feel that is the hallmark of Lovell House.
The natural curiosity of boys is important for developing their skills and abilities, which is why we encourage their love of exploring and experimenting. As well as developing their academic skills in the classroom the boys are given ample time for practical problem-solving in the school gardens and during school trips. The emphasis is on learning through purposeful play, with plenty of hands-on activities and competitive games.
Teaching is tailored to each boy’s individual learning style, enabling boys to learn in the way that suits him best. The boys learn literacy and numeracy skills through purposeful play activities, using interactive learning resources, together with fun and competitive games. The purpose-built facilities at the Senior School and specialist teachers and older boys from both Senior and Junior Schools give the boys many extended learning opportunities.
Beyond the classroom, the school offers an excellent range of extra-curricular activities, giving breadth to the curriculum, and our pre-school and after-school care allows parents flexibility at the beginning and end of each day.
Nottingham High School will be able to educate your son from age 4 - 18, maintaining continuity throughout his school life.
