Barlborough Hall School a Catholic co-educational day school (ages 3-11), is an Elizabethan Manor House situated in beautiful rural surroundings on the borders of North Derbyshire, Nottinghamshire and South Yorkshire, yet minutes from junction 30 of the M1. The school accepts children from all denominations into its warm and vibrant environment before they transfer to the senior school which has boarding facilities, Mount St Mary’s College (ages 11-18), just down the road.
Like the senior school, as a Catholic school in the Jesuit tradition, the schools ethos recognises that every child is an individual, and that the teachers’ responsibility is to draw out the best in each and every pupil, in all areas of school life, whether academic, spiritual, social, physical or emotional.
Children at Barlborough are known for being happy and polite. A balanced learning experience is valued right from age 3 in the nursery (the Early Years Stage was judged “outstanding” in a recent Ofsted inspection).
Small class sizes and top quality facilities ensure that each child can develop his or her potential. An ICT suite, Art room, fully-equipped science lab, design technology workshop, an indoor pool and brand new lakeside PE Studio demonstrates the excellent opportunities open to Barlborough Hall children.
Music and sport play a central part of the Barlborough Hall School experience. Sport is popular, and children are given chances to play regularly for teams in rugby, football, hockey and netball. Music is also a favourite activity with orchestras and music groups for pupils to join in.
There is a diverse range of activities including many creative opportunities for the Junior school children, after school each day, and on Saturday mornings, from a list that includes archery, baking, drama, orchestra, pantomime, environment club, touch typing and many others.
As well as the outstanding education offered at Barlborough, the staff ensure that the school helps today’s busy parents. There is a breakfast club from 7.45am every day, and pupils can stay until 5.30pm, in activities, prep, or crèche for the infant years. There is also a minibus service run in conjunction with Mount St Mary’s, collecting children from a wide local area.
We warmly encourage you to visit the school to see for yourself what an education at Barlborough would be like for your child.
