Cheddleton Station, Station Road, Cheddleton, Staffordshire
You can view the historical Victorian Churnet Valley Railway located deep in 'Little Switzerland' which Staffordshire's quaint countryside has been nicknamed. The trains go on a 16 mile round journey along the countryside and the contrasting moorland scenery from the Cauldron branch. There are lovely little tea rooms that offer tea and light meals that you can enjoy whilst you take in the views of the countryside and the steam trains going by. At the end of August there are Thomas the Tank Engine days and throughout September and in December take in the unspoiled countryside as you sip a hot beverage during the railway's Santa Specials.
We strongly recommend you ring Churnet Valley Railway before you set off on your family day out, to make sure they are open and to confirm admission prices. It may also be worth visiting the website for Churnet Valley Railway, www.churnetvalleyrailway.co.uk, to see if there are any special events on the day for which you may have to book a ticket. Please also be aware that if Churnet Valley Railway hosts birthday parties, this may limit the access in the cafe/restaurant areas.
