Ironbridge Gorge was the birthplace of the industrial revolution. The bridge was constructed from 1777-1781 and was the first iron bridge in the world. The trust consists of 10 museums set in the beautiful Telford countryside. You can get around to each one & the surrounding villages on a free bus. There are lots of surrounding pubs & restaurants in which to relax and enjoy. Ironbridge is ideal for school visits as there is plenty to see and do with lots of educational benefits.
We strongly recommend you ring Ironbridge Gorge Museum Trust before you set off on your family day out, to make sure they are open and to confirm admission prices. It may also be worth visiting the website for Ironbridge Gorge Museum Trust, www.ironbridge.org.uk, to see if there are any special events on the day for which you may have to book a ticket. Please also be aware that if Ironbridge Gorge Museum Trust hosts birthday parties, this may limit the access in the cafe/restaurant areas.
