Looking back at 1,000 years of British military history there are life-size soldiers and model battlefields to entertain your 21st century action hero. Pick up a free activity backpack at reception and your children can enjoy a changing range of activities designed to help the young understand our galleries. Weekend workshops, holiday activities, pantomimes and Punch and Judy shows. Open 10am-5.30pm daily.
We strongly recommend you ring National Army Museum before you set off on your family day out, to make sure they are open and to confirm admission prices. It may also be worth visiting the website for National Army Museum, www.national-army-museum.ac.uk, to see if there are any special events on the day for which you may have to book a ticket. Please also be aware that if National Army Museum hosts birthday parties, this may limit the access in the cafe/restaurant areas.

Took my 9yr old to see the Horses at War exhibition - and it was fascinating! Had no idea that the horses of generals became such celebrities - to the extent that when they died they made ink pots out of their hooves (amongst other things). Michael Morpurgo's War Horse has done a lot to inspire this exhibition - but it doesn't dominate until the last room. Loved seeing how they came up with the concept of using rods to move the puppet horses (rather than strings) - would love to see this at the theatre now.
