Romney Park Road, Greenwich, London
Find out about boats and ships and Britain's seafaring glory days. For little fighters the Nelson section if full of fascination, including a peek at the uniform he died in (the blood on his stockings is from one of his fellow seamen, who died a few hours before he fell himself at the Battle of Trafalgar). At weekends and in the holidays there are lots of free performances and children's workshops to enjoy. In the rear of the grounds of the museum there is a jolly playground, too. Open daily 10am-5pm (last admission 4.30pm). Closed Christmas Day and Boxing Day.
We strongly recommend you ring National Maritime Museum before you set off on your family day out, to make sure they are open and to confirm admission prices. It may also be worth visiting the website for National Maritime Museum, www.nmm.ac.uk, to see if there are any special events on the day for which you may have to book a ticket. Please also be aware that if National Maritime Museum hosts birthday parties, this may limit the access in the cafe/restaurant areas.
