The Wildflower Centre is set amidst Court Hey Park, a tranquil Victorian Park with the aim of conserving and re-emphasising wildflowers in Britain. Lots for mums and older children to see on the wild flower front with demonstration areas, a garden nursery, exhibitions and interactive displays, and an exciting 160m rooftop walkway, accessed by lift at both ends. For children there's a large play area in Court Hey Park itself, and two smaller play areas within the wildflower centre, one for smaller children and the other for 6+ years. There is also a giant xylophone, climbing on a traversing wall (age 7+), and indoor activities in the Craft Room (brass rubbing, picture colouring) and a programme of events throughout the year. The Café has high chairs, baby-changing facilities and it will serve half portions for children. Open daily from early March to early September from 10am to 5pm.
We strongly recommend you ring National Wildflower Centre before you set off on your family day out, to make sure they are open and to confirm admission prices. It may also be worth visiting the website for National Wildflower Centre, www.nwc.org.uk, to see if there are any special events on the day for which you may have to book a ticket. Please also be aware that if National Wildflower Centre hosts birthday parties, this may limit the access in the cafe/restaurant areas.
