Stunning Arboretum covering 134 acres with over 2,500 trees, 11 pools, four miles of footpaths and a working farm. A proper family day out in the fresh air, with good walks and close encounters of all the different trees - springtime is especially beautiful. The award-wining Earth Centre is half built into the hillside and houses a restaurant, shop, loos and baby-changing facilities. There are children's helpings in the restaurant and they will warm up toddler's food if you have it with you. The working farm boasts a suckler herd of Herefords (and their calves when in season) and a pure-bred poultry and wildfowl collection. There is no hands-on experience on the working farm, but children can get close to the animals and see the chicks when in season. At Christmas, there is a Nativity Trail. Open March-Dec, Wed-Sun, 11am-5pm, and January-February, weekends only. The Arboretum is open daily during October.
