Gibside is the ancestral estate of the late Queen Mother’s family, the Bowes-Lyons.  As well as the Palladian chapel, with its unusual three-tiered pulpit, are stables and a Column to Liberty - all set within a large wooded riverside landscape garden.  Tea rooms and award-winning loos!  Various events include Children’s Day and Brass in the Park.  Grounds and stables open all year, Chapel mid-March to Oct.

We strongly recommend you ring Gibside before you set off on your family day out, to make sure they are open and to confirm admission prices. It may also be worth visiting the website for Gibside, www.nationaltrust.org.uk, to see if there are any special events on the day for which you may have to book a ticket.
