Classic Victorian house, with beautiful gardens that are home to the largest rock garden in Europe.  There’s a rhododendron maze – take your sandwiches in with you and plenty of water as it’s known to be quite difficult!  There’s an adventure playground for children, woodland and lakeside walks and plenty of family activities throughout the year.  Restaurant with children’s menu, picnic area.  The gardens open in March and the house in April – check the website for full details.

We strongly recommend you ring Cragside before you set off on your family day out, to make sure they are open and to confirm admission prices. It may also be worth visiting the website for Cragside, www.nationaltrust.org.uk, to see if there are any special events on the day for which you may have to book a ticket. Please also be aware that if Cragside hosts birthday parties, this may limit the access in the cafe/restaurant areas.
