Set in the Smithills Country Park, Smithills Open Farm is filled with traditional farm animals for children to see, touch and feed as well as lots of other creatures to look at eg owls, snakes, lalmas, peacocks, fallow deer, to name but a few. Children can feed the lambs, hens, cuddle baby chicks and watch the goats being milked u2013 or, play in the designated play or simply go for a walk and follow the nature trails. There are also various events during the year such as an Easter Egg Hunt, sheep shearing, a Nativity play, owls and a farmyard quiz. Lots of places to picnic and there is a café which provides children's food and there are baby-changing facilities. Open from 10am to 5pm every day, except over Christmas. Telephone for opening times during January and February, which can be weather dependent.
