An historic working farm with 200 year old farm buildings. Delicious organic dairy ice creams and home-made cakes are made from the creamy milk of a 100-strong Jersey herd, milked at 3.30pm every day. There are rare-breed cattle, pigs, sheep and fowl to look at and feed, and all their babies to look at, plus lots of activities during the year such as Easter egg crafts and hunt, pumpkin planting, sheep shearing and children's crafts. There are tea rooms and baby-changing facilities, picnic areas (bring your own picnic and supplement them with the cakes and ice creams!). Mostly buggy/pram accessible. Open April to end of September every day except Fridays, from 12-5.30pm, and from October-December, weekends only, from 12-5pm (and daily during the local half term).
We strongly recommend you ring Gobbett Rare Breeds Farm before you set off on your family day out, to make sure they are open and to confirm admission prices. It may also be worth visiting the website for Gobbett Rare Breeds Farm, www.thegobbetrarebreedsfarm.co.uk, to see if there are any special events on the day for which you may have to book a ticket. Please also be aware that if Gobbett Rare Breeds Farm hosts birthday parties, this may limit the access in the cafe/restaurant areas.
