This magnificent 17th century ducal mansion built on the site of the original Medieval Castle boasts spectacular views across the city. There are cave tours of the passageways and chequered history as well as a museum tell the story of Nottingham. The castle is a great place for children, with interactive displays, and an activity - led gallery (specifically for the under 5s) which brings paintings to life. There is also a medieval - style playground in the grounds and a covered picnic area. Just 10 minutes walk from the centre or if you're in the car there is parking nearby. Monday to Sunday Mar - Sept 10.00am - 5.00pm last admissions 4.30pm Oct - Feb 11.00am - 4.00pm last admission 3.30pm.
