Deal Castle in Kent, situated on Deal's sandy seafront, was built by Henry VIII to provent invasion from Europe. Families can explore dark passages that wind through the bastions and look out to sea along the battlements. Deal Castle is managed by English Heritage so you'll find a shop and refreshments provided during the season. Open daily from 1 Apr-30 Sep 10am-6pm. Closed between October and March.
