A family-friendly aquarium with 45 carefully themed and informative displays of fish and invertebrates, illustrating the varied marine life in the Irish Sea eg trout, mullet, pollock, dogfish, sea bass and even conger eels hiding in a shipwreck. Children can listen to talks, dabble their hands in the Rock Pool display and touch some of the starfish and even gently stroke some rays. There are fish-feeding demonstrations 3 x a day as well. An all-day ticket enables you to return to displays again, and visit the other attractions such as a 12 hole mini-golf course, a boat pool (aged 5+ to operate the radio-controlled boats) and an Adventure Playground with a nautical theme with a shipwreck to climb on, slides and an aerial rope walkway (for 5+ year olds). A café serving homemade food overlooks the Solway, and has high chairs for children. Open daily from 10am to 5pm (except Christmas).
We strongly recommend you ring Lake District Coast Aquarium before you set off on your family day out, to make sure they are open and to confirm admission prices. It may also be worth visiting the website for Lake District Coast Aquarium, www.lakedistrict-coastaquarium.co.uk, to see if there are any special events on the day for which you may have to book a ticket. Please also be aware that if Lake District Coast Aquarium hosts birthday parties, this may limit the access in the cafe/restaurant areas.
