Hourly ferries can be taken from three terminals on the River Mersey, the Pier Head Ferry Terminal in Liverpool itself, Seacombe Ferry Terminal and Woodside, on the Wirral. You can start your journey at any of the terminals and with a return ticket, have the ability to stop off at Seacombe for example and rejoin the cruise later in the day. In summer the route goes to the mouth of the River Mersey to see New Brighton's old fort and in winter, to Birkenhead Priory the oldest standing building on Merseyside. Restaurant facilities can be found on the Woodside Terminal (Woodside Café) or on the Seacombe Terminal (Grille Café).at the Woodside Restaurant.
We strongly recommend you ring Mersey Ferries before you set off on your family day out, to make sure they are open and to confirm admission prices. It may also be worth visiting the website for Mersey Ferries, www.merseyferries.co.uk, to see if there are any special events on the day for which you may have to book a ticket. Please also be aware that if Mersey Ferries hosts birthday parties, this may limit the access in the cafe/restaurant areas.
