Maclaren create new Buggy Workouts
There are various new-mum workout regimes out there – the likes of Pushy Mothers have created the chance for women to work out gently in those weeks after the birth in a way that makes them feel good, gets them out of the house and might even start them on the route to regaining their pre-pregnancy shape. Now Maclaren have devised their own workouts for new mothers to try.
The famous pushchair brand have designed special exercises so new mums can get fit with its funky new GTLX Travel System.
Six Maclaren Buggy Workouts – Stroll Back to Shape
Working with the pregnancy and post-natal fitness group Pushy Mothers, Maclaren have posted six new workouts on their website which offer tips and ideas for women taking their new babies for a walk in the park or a jaunt to the shops.
The idea is that they should be fun and easy going rather than any seriously strenuous mission to lose weight too quickly when a woman’s body is still recovering from the birth. Also, importantly, these are ways a mother can push her body just that little bit harder whilst her little one rides safely in his buggy.
1. Baby Steps – focuses on your pushchair posture to activate your deep tummy muscles and pelvic floor
2. Getting Pushy – picks up the pace after your postnatal check-up
3. Hill Pushing – tones up the buttocks and improves cardio fitness
4. Burn Baby Burn – speeds up your pace to really burn off that baby weight
5. Mind Your Back – strengthens your back to help with lifting your baby
6. The Ultimate Push – combines all the previous sessions to really get you on the way to a new and healthy lifestyle
Rachel Berg from Pushy Mothers leads the explanation of each exercise and there’s a downloadable step by step guide for each session as well as useful advice on getting your pelvic floor and abdominal muscles in good order.
Getting fit with Maclaren’s innovative GTLX Travel System
Maclaren’s latest buggy, the GTLX Travel System, is ideal for Stroll Back to Shape as well as for those parents who just love a good gadget when they see it. It is one of the few models in the Maclaren fleet that can be used from birth and the seat is reversible, so when your baby is small he can face you, and once he’s a curious toddler he can face forwards.
The GTLX (RRP £590) has a rather exciting dashboard-style console that sits within the handle frame and this includes a strollometer to tell you how far and fast you are strolling. Other whizzy features include a clock, temperature gauge and a drinks holder fits on the side of the handlebar for that all important bottle of water. The handlebar is also adjustable so you won’t strain your back when pushing it, and the all-terrain wheels and brakes make it easy to manoeuvre with in the park, too.
