Set up in 1976 for the conservation of rare breeds of poultry and livestock. Children can see over 100 different breeds as they walk along the grass pathways of 29-acre Honeybourne Farm. They can also feed the wild mallard and greylag geese that fly in to join in the fun, and watch ducklings and chicks hatch during the season. The farm animals include the rare Irish Moiled cow, and some of the rarest breeds of sheep and goats. The Speckled Hen Tea Room has hot and cold snacks and caters for children's helpings, and there are baby-changing facilities too. Younger children can play in the adventure playground and the indoor play area is specifically for toddlers. Open daily from 10.30am to 5pm, except over Christmas.
We strongly recommend you ring Domestic Fowl Trust before you set off on your family day out, to make sure they are open and to confirm admission prices. It may also be worth visiting the website for Domestic Fowl Trust, www.domesticfowltrust.co.uk, to see if there are any special events on the day for which you may have to book a ticket. Please also be aware that if Domestic Fowl Trust hosts birthday parties, this may limit the access in the cafe/restaurant areas.
