Roundhay Park has recently undergone an £8.2 million Heritage lottery improvement and makes a wonderful setting for family picnics - head for the 19th century Folly for breathtaking views over Waterloo Lake. Also within the park is Tropical World (see listings under Zoos). Picnic areas, an adventure playground and a road train that operates in the summer months.

We strongly recommend you ring Roundhay Park before you set off on your family day out, to make sure they are open and to confirm admission prices. It may also be worth visiting the website for Roundhay Park, www.roundhaypark.org.uk, to see if there are any special events on the day for which you may have to book a ticket. Please also be aware that if Roundhay Park hosts birthday parties, this may limit the access in the cafe/restaurant areas.
