Smart and sassy
The John Lewis autumn/ winter 2012 collections for girls and boys aged 2-12 offer options for both the traditional child, in the form of velvet trimmed dresses and herringbone shirts, as well as, graphic tees and skinny jeans for edgier pre-teens. This season was influenced by a ‘mini-me’ mindset in children trying to emulate adult fashion.
Girls are offered the Loved and Found label featuring drop waist dresses ready to accompany boots and tights through a cold winter. The highlight of the season is a swallow print dress in crimson (£22), which can be paired with the Geox Young Namid boot (£70). As with previous collections, jersey tops, casual dresses and skinny jeans will continue to be a fall and winter focus.
Worn and Torn, the everyday range for boys will feature chunky knits and rustic-print graphic tees (£12) for fall. Skinny chinos (£18) will offer a classic, but relaxed look, especially when paired with a printed chambray shirt (£20).
The Heirloom collection focuses on traditional country looks and offers premium special occasion wear. This season, girls can enjoy an empire-waist velvet dress in navy embellished with a violet silk sash (£45) and Start-rite Clare leather shoes (£38-42), and sleek tailored suits for boys will be the focus of the Heirloom collection, including a sepia coloured cord jacket (£45-48). Corduroy trousers, cashmere jumpers and the John Lewis Joshua boot (£32) will provide an added bit of country luxury to any outfit. The Heirloom collection begins at £18.
The rich, soft fabrics that make up the autumn/ winter 2012 collection provide children with a smart, affordable look with no compromise on comfort. Love and Found, Worn and Torn, and Heirloom can be found at John Lewis stores and johnlewis.com.
